Meet the Author: Jennifer J. Williams

Happy Monday! Welcome to Meet the Author Mondays, a series where we get to know the authors attending Rocky Mountain Readers Retreat 2025. Tickets are still available and include meals, yoga, two signing sessions and more! Head over to https://www.rmreaders.com to get your tickets!

Today we’re getting to know Jennifer J Williams.

What genre do you write?: I write spicy contemporary romance, mostly focusing on small-town romance. I will be releasing a sports series in 2025. All of my books take place in Colorado as well.

Where can I buy your books?: My books are exclusively available on Amazon and KU.

What is a word you absolutely hate?: I’m not sure if there’s a specific word that I hate, but a phrase I hate is when someone says “I seen”…”I seen your books on KU.” I want to shout, “no, you SAW my books! SAW!” 🤣🤣

Do you believe in ghosts?: I do believe in ghosts, and I very much hope that I’m not being haunted by anyone.

Coffee or tea?: I rarely drink either one. I prefer soda, and my favorite is Vanilla Coke. I usually only drink tea when I’m sick, and coffee only when I’m out running errands!

What is your preferred reading format?: I prefer either my Kindle or the Kindle app on my phone, but there’s really nothing quite as nostalgic as reading a well-loved paperback.

What are you currently reading?: I’m currently reading Broken by Sadie Kincaid, Tempting by Bella Matthews, and Feels Like Falling by Alexandra Hale. I’m the quintessential mood reader. 😜

What is your preferred reading format?: I actually do most of my reading via audiobooks these days. I melt for a good narrator.

Patchwork Quilt Murder (review)

This is my second Lucy Stone book, and I think it also might be my last. I don’t think the author’s writing style and my reading style mesh. I have many of the same complaints in Patchwork Quilt Murder that I did in Mother of the Bride Murder:

  • A lot of extraneous additions to the story that didn’t move the plot forward.
  • Very slow pacing
  • I wish there had been more character development to some of the main side characters

The chapter early on where the dog dies absolutely gutted me, and it bothered me even more how it was handled. I also didn’t love the way mental illness way handled and discussed among the characters throughout the entire book. Definitely made me cringe.

Despite all of that, but I did enjoy the audiobook narrator, Coleen Marlo; she was enjoyable to listen to.

While this is the 30th book in the Lucy Stone Mysteries series, it can absolutely be read as a stand-alone!

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the audio review copy!

Stinger (review)

“Life is Wild.”

I wound up really enjoying Stinger by Mia Sheridan. I say “wound up” because I never really read the description on this one before downloading it from NetGalley.

This one was unique with a first act break-up and interesting time-lapse chapters in the middle. It didn’t love Grace all of the time while reading this, but I can’t put my finger on why I didn’t like her as a character.

That said, I thought the Las Vegas setting was well done – a nice mix of The Strip and the tourist attractions and regular life in the greater-Las Vegas area.

This was a steamy, chunky book (432 pages!).

Thank you to SourceBooks Bloom Books for the #gifted digital copy.

Go My Own Way (review)

Go My Own Way was such a fun, quick and engaging read. After running away from the MC clubhouse she’s been working and living at, Illiana escapes and joins the Peep Show, a traveling adult circus.

And even at just over 100 pages, this was a steamy read! This little book packed a big punch!

Thank you to the author, Cedar Rose, for gifting me a copy of this book at Getting Witchy With It in Salem 2023.

Murder Your Employer (review)

Murder Your Employer was a much anticipated read for me (even though it sat on my TBR pile for more than 6 months. I was surprised how unique this was – written in a text book-like style for distance learners for the McMasters Conservatory.

I absolutely love Doria’s sections, both on campus and while completing her final thesis.

This was such an original, unique book – I’ve never read anything like this before. Less of a “whodunnit” and more of a how-to guide.

For me, the first half of the book was pretty slow (again, text book-esque) but by the second half I couldn’t flip pages fast enough. This is definitely a very, VERY slow burn, dark academia read.
